Cookie Policy
A short policy, since the site stores only two things and both stay on your own device.
No cookies are set today
At the time of this review, aurelinna.com sets no cookies at all. It does use your browser's local storage, a different mechanism that works in a similar way and is worth explaining: a small value is written on your device and read again next time, and it is never sent to a server.
The two keys, named
tk_age_ok
Written only on the home page, and only when you press Yes, I am 18 or over. Its value is the word yes, and it exists so that the age question is not put to you on every visit. It has no expiry of its own and is removed when you clear site data. If you answer No, nothing is written.
tk_consent
Written when you press Accept or Decline on the cookie bar. Its value is the word accepted or declined, and it exists so the bar does not reappear on every page. Until you choose, nothing is written and the bar keeps showing.
Both are read inside a try/catch, so a browser that blocks storage (a private window, for instance) means the site asks again each time. Neither value identifies you and neither leaves your device.
What Consent Mode v2 does here
Every page declares Google Consent Mode v2 defaults in the head, before anything else loads:
- ad_storage: denied
- ad_user_data: denied
- ad_personalization: denied
- analytics_storage: denied
- wait_for_update: 500 milliseconds
This is a standing instruction to any Google tag that might later be added: start refused, store nothing, and wait half a second in case the visitor's stored choice arrives. Pressing Accept issues a consent update granting all four; pressing Decline issues an update leaving all four denied. Because no tag is present today, the update is recorded on the page and nothing acts on it.
What would be set if a tag were added
If we ever add Google Analytics 4 or Google Ads, and only after you have accepted, these are what you would see:
- _ga: Google Analytics, distinguishes one browser from another, about two years.
- _ga_<container>: Google Analytics 4 session state, about two years.
- _gid: Google Analytics, a 24-hour browser identifier.
- _gcl_au: Google Ads conversion linker, about three months.
Google would set them, and only after consent is granted. Declining keeps every one of them off, and this page would be updated on the day any tag went live.
Changing your mind
The Cookie settings button in the footer of every page brings the bar back. Choose again and the stored value is overwritten. To wipe the slate entirely, clear site data for aurelinna.com in your browser; the next visit will ask you both questions from scratch.
Blocking cookies in your browser
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Enhanced Tracking Protection, or Cookies and Site Data to clear and block per site.
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies, and Site settings for a single site.
- Safari: Settings, Privacy, Block all cookies, and Manage Website Data to remove one site.
- Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions, Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Blocking everything will not break this site. You will be asked the age question and the consent question on every visit, which is how the site is designed to behave when it cannot store anything.
What is not used
The site carries no social network pixels or Meta, X, LinkedIn and TikTok tags, and does no fingerprinting, canvas or otherwise. It has no session recording, heatmaps or scroll tracking, no chat widget and no advertising network. Fonts, scripts, images and maps are never loaded from another company's servers, which is why nobody else can see that you visited, and no cross-site identifiers of any kind are used.
